Like many companies (including us, before we figured this out 🤡) we were looking for ways to increase our user signups, and by putting the customer at the heart of our marketing strategy, we were able to achieve our goals.
We tested a lot of things (some of which were admittedly ridiculous), and thought we would share with you the 5 elements that helped us increase by 3 our new subscribers in 6 weeks.
Over the course of 2022, we were able to identify and remove any obstacles or inefficiencies that were preventing users from signing up. Increasing sign-up performance requires a holistic approach that takes into account various factors, such as user experience, marketing, social proof, and partnerships. By continuously experimenting and optimizing these factors, we achieved impressive growth in sign-ups within a short period of time! 😎
Here are five easy tips (although let's be honest, nothing is ever really easy) that worked for us and can be applied to any struggling startup that seeks to increase its user base.
Creating high-quality content that is optimized for search engines is not rocket science and can be achieved by anyone. We quickly realized the importance of focusing on our target audience's needs and interests in order to improve our search engine ranking and drive more organic traffic and sign-ups.
To achieve this, we invested in a strong keyword strategy and expert articles to solve our readers' problems (although we're not sure we always succeeded) and attract more visitors to our website.
Our content included tutorials, top 10 lists, interviews, ultimate guides, and anything else we could think of to keep people interested (and hopefully clicking that sign-up button 🙌). We also used tools like Google Analytics and added referrals to our blog posts to track our website's traffic and determine which articles were performing best.
Moreover, partnering with other companies and integrating with their products and services was an excellent way to attract more users to our website. By identifying companies that shared our target audience and reaching out to them to discuss potential partnerships we managed to leverage each other's audiences to attract more sign-ups.
We were able to grow our customer base by forming a partnership with Make and are currently working on integrating our AI solution into more No-Code platforms (fingers crossed it works🤞) to get even more exposure and hopefully attract more users.
We're not exactly the biggest name in the AI game (yet), but we were able to increase the visibility of our brand by getting the word out through micro-influencers, journalists, and even our customers with a referral program (because who doesn't love a good referral bonus?). It wasn't the most sophisticated strategy, but hey, it worked for us and we're proud of it! ✨
We may not be web design gurus, but we knew that having a website that looked like it was made in the early 2000s wasn't going to cut it. So, we focused on creating a clean, professional-looking design (with a lot of trial and error) that would instill some level of trust in our visitors 🔥
We aimed to showcase our expertise and professionalism, making it as easy as possible for visitors to navigate and find the information they need (because let's face it, nobody has time to spend hours trying to figure out how to use a website).
To do so, we used easy-to-understand language to ensure that our website is easy to navigate, with:
We may have initially made it harder for visitors to sign up than it needed to be (whoops - sorry for that 👀), but we eventually recognized the critical importance of making the process as simple as possible. So, we streamlined our sign-up process (after some embarrassing mistakes) and went from a confusing maze of fields like this:
to a straightforward and clean sign-up form like the one below! We even added some friendly and persuasive language to nudge visitors towards taking action (because who doesn't need a little extra motivation? 🦾).
Tracking our KPIs truly helped us determine where to put our marketing efforts and make informed decisions. It wasn't always easy to determine what metrics to track (we're not all data scientists here), but we eventually found some helpful tools like Google Analytics and Metabase.
We even included referral tracking in our URLs (because why not add one more thing to our to-do list?) to identify which pages were actually driving sign-ups. It's not the most glamorous aspect of marketing, but it sure does pay off in the long run 👌
By implementing these strategies, you too can attract more visitors to your site, convert them into customers, and achieve your business goals! Either way, implementing these strategies couldn't hurt, right? 😉
In a future article, we will explain how we were able to turn these sign-ups into real regular API users. Stay tuned <3
